Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Consult with pet parents on services, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
