Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Richmond Hill, Ontario location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, ensure salon cleanliness, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, strong communication, organization, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and navigate ladders/stooping.

- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays (experience)
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle pets safely (experience)

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
