Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position in our Roanoke store builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments via phone and in-person, promote sales to hit targets, and maintain impeccable salon cleanliness. Ensure pet safety, assist with sick/injured pets, and support other store departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational prowess, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/hairy environments with moderate noise. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
