Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold our vision for pet safety, cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales, recommend wellness solutions, ensure salon sanitation, and respond to pet health needs. Collaborate across departments and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, and proficiency in computer applications. Strong communication, organization, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting with flexible scheduling including evenings/weekends.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and handle pets in a wet, noisy environment with moderate to high noise levels and mechanical exposure.
