Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Rockford, Illinois, you'll receive hands-on training from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, including daily maintenance and end-of-day protocols.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Collaborate across departments and uphold company values.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
