Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, it's perfect for passionate animal lovers starting their grooming career.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and ensure pet safety—taking action for sick/injured pets as needed. Assist other departments and follow all policies.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds (team lift 100+), stoop, kneel, and work in a wet, pet-hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam possible). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and computer proficiency. Passion for pets and customer service essential.
