Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while ensuring positive pet parent experiences, store cleanliness, and pet safety. Obtain this position after successfully completing academy training.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote sales to hit targets, and assist other departments as needed. Take immediate action for sick/injured pets and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Handle physical demands like lifting 50+ pounds, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment.
