Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision from expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, store cleanliness, and driving salon success in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and contribute to sales targets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but we'll train you through our Salon Academy. You need strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic environment with pet hair and moderate noise. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure are essential.
