Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from industry-leading stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Master safe grooming techniques, deliver exceptional salon services, and build lasting relationships with pet parents in our Round Rock, Texas location.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and upsell services/merchandise. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and compliance with all policies. Assist with pet health issues and support store operations as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist with sick/injured pets and cross-department support
