Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes under supervision. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/check-outs, and rebookings. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, maintain salon sanitation via daily checklists, and assist with sick/injured pets. Contribute to store cleanliness and cross-department support while following all policies.
Daily Impact
Deliver best-in-class salon experiences, build client relationships through consultations and reminders, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek flexible candidates for evenings/weekends/holidays with strong organization, communication, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-hair-filled environment.
