Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes. You'll contribute to store cleanliness, pet safety, and salon sales under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote services to hit sales targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must handle physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy conditions with pet hair. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays essential.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
