Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical skills in grooming while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes. You'll uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and salon success.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote services to hit sales targets, and ensure salon sanitation. Take action on sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Daily Operations
- Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register
- Perform maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Upsell merchandise and rebook appointments
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, ability to handle pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, communication, and physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs in a pet hair/wet environment with moderate noise.
