Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Saint Charles, Missouri, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Core Grooming Duties
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
Customer Experience
Greet pet parents, answer questions, manage reservations, conduct check-in/out, reminder calls, and maintain client records. Recommend solutions and promote salon sales to hit targets.
Safety & Maintenance
Ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions via daily maintenance checklists. Identify and address sick/injured pets, transporting to vets as needed. Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/pet hair environments with moderate to high noise.
