Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional service to pet parents and ensuring pet safety. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments while upholding pet safety and company policies.
Daily Operations
- Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register
- Handle appointment reminders and client records
- Respond to sick/injured pets and transport to vet if needed
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Must handle physical demands: lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise environment.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
