Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, this position offers a dynamic start in pet care with growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales of merchandise and services, ensure salon cleanliness, and take action on pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational abilities. Be physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ pounds, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards

- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
