Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Saltillo, Mississippi, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists to master industry-leading grooming techniques. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering top-tier salon services, and upholding PetSmart's vision for pet care excellence. Advance to full Pet Stylist after completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, provide full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Ensure pet safety, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales through consultations and merchandise upsells.
- Handle client interactions: greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebookings.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and respond to pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed.
- Support store operations, follow policies, and contribute to a positive team culture.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy for certification. Need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
