Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, salon cleanliness, and driving salon success while upholding our vision of Anything for Pets.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe, proficient grooming skills exceeding company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote services/merchandise.
- Ensure salon hygiene, pet safety, and handle emergencies like transporting sick pets.
- Support store operations, sales targets, and our culture of Belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek flexible team players with strong communication, organization, computer skills, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
