Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and service promotions.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek flexible team players with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to thrive under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet-filled environment.
