Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in San Antonio, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, it's perfect for passionate animal lovers starting their grooming career.

Key Responsibilities

• Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
• Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
• Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise, and drive salon sales.
• Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; respond to pet health issues.
• Assist other departments and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organization, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule required (evenings, weekends, holidays).
