Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, store cleanliness, and driving salon success in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking to enhance the pet parent experience.
- Respond to pet health issues promptly and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, plus proficiency in computer applications.
