Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations, manage appointments, maintain salon hygiene, and promote services to boost sales. Ensure humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and support store-wide operations.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.

- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays (experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair/wet environments (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services
- Recommend health/wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments as needed
