Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in San Francisco, CA, you'll engage pet parents and contribute to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote services to hit sales targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Salon maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Client consultations and rebooking
- Merchandise sales and upselling
- Appointment reminder calls
Experience & Skills
PetSmart prioritizes passion for pets over extensive experience—prior grooming is preferred but training is provided. Successful candidates complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits: composure under pressure, organizational skills, strong communication, physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs, and schedule flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Proficiency in computer apps and depth perception required for safe pet handling in a dynamic, pet-hair-filled salon.
