Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in San Jose, California, this position offers a dynamic path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet emergencies or other store duties as needed.

Experience & Skills

Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification is required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). You need strong organizational skills, attention to safety, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, and proficiency in computer applications and communication.
