Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams, learning industry-best grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on building safe technical skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and positive pet parent experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Uphold salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Follow all company policies and contribute to store operations.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ pounds, standing for long periods, and working in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
