Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Sandy, Utah, you'll train under experienced Professional Stylists in PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. Uphold pet safety, store cleanliness, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Core Grooming Duties
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
Customer Engagement
Greet pet parents, answer questions, manage reservations, conduct check-in/out, reminder calls, and rebookings. Recommend wellness solutions and promote merchandise to drive salon sales.
Salon Operations
Maintain cleanliness and humane conditions using daily checklists. Identify and address sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
