Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain records, and recommend wellness solutions. Promote salon sales, keep the grooming area spotless, respond to pet health issues, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computer applications required. Physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/noisy conditions with pet hair exposure. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
