Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Saratoga Springs, NY, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote sales to meet targets. Uphold salon cleanliness, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments while following all policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Performing supervised grooming services
- Consulting with pet parents on needs
- Executing check-in/out procedures
- Maintaining hygiene and safety protocols
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.
