Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Develop safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, client records, and appointment reminders.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Promote services and merchandise to drive salon sales and achieve targets.
- Assist with sick/injured pets and support other store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Requires computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift over 100 lbs), standing, stooping, and depth perception.
