Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills, delivering exceptional pet parent experiences, and upholding our vision for pet wellness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, provide full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist in other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends. Physically, expect standing, lifting up to 50 lbs (team lifts for heavier), and handling active pets.

- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays (experience)
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet health emergencies
