Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Saugus, Massachusetts location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, ensure pet safety, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all policies while participating in our culture of recognition.
Daily Operations
- Handle pet parent consultations and reservations
- Perform maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Respond to sick/injured pets and transport if required
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a pet hair-filled environment essential. Composure under pressure and attention to safety a must.
