Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical skills in grooming while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences and upholding our vision for pet safety and salon excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Ensure salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Flexibility to support other store areas is essential.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.
