Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) receives hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. You'll learn industry-leading grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. This entry-level role emphasizes pet safety, customer service, and salon operations in our Scarborough, Ontario location.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, and teeth brushing per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Follow all company policies and contribute to store-wide duties.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include computer proficiency, strong communication, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, climb ladders, with flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays.
