Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and keep the salon spotless. Identify sick/injured pets for immediate vet transport and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, attention to safety, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and depth perception. Proficiency in computer applications required; composure under pressure essential.
