Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations, manage appointments, and maintain impeccable salon cleanliness. Promote services to drive sales, handle check-ins/outs, and respond swiftly to pet health needs. Uphold company policies while assisting other departments as required.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart seeks enthusiastic trainees who complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Key traits include computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays, organizational prowess, and strong communication. Physical demands involve standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in a pet-filled environment.

- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist with sick/injured pets and cross-department support
