Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and make reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist other departments as needed. Uphold company policies for a safe, welcoming environment.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart seeks enthusiastic trainees ready for our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Key traits include computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands: standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/pet hair areas with moderate noise.
