Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Sewell, New Jersey location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills, delivering exceptional salon services, and ensuring pet safety while engaging with pet parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and manage appointments, check-ins, check-outs, and records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, performing daily maintenance and end-of-day checklists.
- Drive sales by promoting services and merchandise to achieve targets.
- Ensure pet safety, respond to health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek passionate individuals with strong communication, organization, computer skills, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
