Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Sherwood Park, Alberta location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while upholding PetSmart’s vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents and provide exceptional salon services under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and consultations. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, maintain salon cleanliness, and ensure humane pet conditions. Identify and address sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer apps, strong communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and composure under pressure required. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), standing, stooping, and depth perception.
