Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes. You'll contribute to store cleanliness, pet safety, and salon success under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and uphold the highest cleanliness and safety protocols. Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs frequently (team lift 100+ lbs), with exposure to wet areas, pet hair, and moderate-to-high noise.
