Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Simi Valley, California, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and merchandise upselling.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, plus proficiency in computer applications.
