Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Sioux City, Iowa, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales of merchandise and services to hit salon targets. Ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist other departments as needed.
Daily Operations
- Develop safe technical grooming skills meeting company expectations.
- Make reminder calls and recommend wellness solutions.
- Follow all policies for pet safety and store maintenance.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
