Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. Under supervision from experienced stylists, you'll learn best-in-class techniques for baths, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, salon cleanliness, and sales growth. Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy is required to advance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and book services.
- Handle check-in/out, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Drive sales of merchandise and services to hit salon targets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s training and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Proficiency in computer applications essential.
