Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services, and upholding our vision for pet safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, check-in/out, reservations, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost sales and meet targets.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, strong organization, attention to detail/safety, and excellent communication. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.
