Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills while contributing to store success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for all pets.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, client records, and emergency pet care as needed.
- Collaborate across departments and uphold company values of Belonging and Recognition.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
