Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart's Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, salon cleanliness, and driving sales while upholding our mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions to pet parents.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client consultations.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Drive sales by promoting services and merchandise to meet salon targets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need flexibility for evenings/weekends, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, computer skills, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Attention to detail and passion for pets are essential.
