Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Southlake, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and promote salon services to drive sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Consult with clients on pet needs, recommend solutions, and uphold PetSmart’s vision and safety protocols.
- Assist in store operations and participate in team culture initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair/wet environments (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Assist in sales growth, store operations, and other departments as needed
