Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Spanish Fort, Alabama, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and outstanding pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales of merchandise and services to hit targets, uphold salon cleanliness, and take action on pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Daily Operations
- Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register
- Perform maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, ability to work under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, communication, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping). Passion for pets and customer service required.
