Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Springfield, Massachusetts, you'll join our Professional Styling team for hands-on training through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, you'll learn industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services, ensuring pet safety, and building lasting relationships with pet parents.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include performing supervised grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care; maintaining salon cleanliness and humane conditions; recommending wellness solutions; handling check-ins, check-outs, and reservations; promoting sales; and assisting with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed.
Daily Operations
- Greet pet parents and manage appointments
- Conduct reminder calls and maintain client records
- Ensure end-of-day cleaning per checklists
Experience & Skills
Successful candidates complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Key skills: flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, strong communication, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.

- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales and merchandise
- Assist in other store departments as needed
- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets
