Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Springfield, Missouri, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists in our Grooming Academy. Learn industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in pet care, customer service, and salon operations, with clear paths to advancement as a full Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, provide full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Ensure pet safety, recommend wellness solutions, and maintain salon cleanliness throughout the day.
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences: greet customers, manage appointments, handle check-ins/outs, and promote services/merchandise to meet sales goals.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist across store departments as needed.
- Uphold company policies, values, and hygiene protocols in a fast-paced environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, organizational skills, strong communication, and physical capability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet-filled setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential. Proficiency in computers and passion for pets set you apart.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety protocols
- Drive salon sales through merchandise and service promotion
- Assist in other store departments as needed
