Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold pet safety, store cleanliness, and our company values while building skills for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Core Grooming Duties

Perform full menu of supervised services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.

Customer & Sales Focus

Engage pet parents in-person and via phone: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, and recommend wellness solutions. Promote services and merchandise to drive salon sales targets.

Operations & Safety

Maintain salon sanitation via daily checklists, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond to sick/injured pets. Assist other departments and follow all policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, computer skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and handle pets safely. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
