Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services, and drive salon sales to meet targets.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and humane conditions; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Assist in other store departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Proficiency in computer applications essential.
